Whilst on exercise off Newcastle harbour, Belfast Coastguard tasked Newcastle Lifeboat to a 19 foot vessel with engine difficulties. The vessel has 1 person on board. The boats engine could not be restarted and it was drifting towards rocks near Coney Island.

As the Lifeboat reached the scene, the casualty vessel was assisted by a local vessel and was being secured along the pier in Killough. The Lifeboat stood by and checked if any casualty care was required.

Following discussions with the local coastguard unit, the lifeboat left the scene and returned back to Newcastle harbour and was rehoused, refuelled and made ready for service.
